'96 PSD No- Start - Need a little help
I have a '96 F250 with ~250,000 miles. Never been chipped, only mods are 6637 intake filter, and big down-pipe, plus gutted cat.
Last week while driving ~ 55mph, engine died, will not restart. Here is what I have done and what I see:
- New batteries
- New CPS (Borg-Warner), I do get a RPM jump while cranking.
- Installed re-built IDM (no help)
- disconnected the ICP sensor (no help)
I do get a WTS light.
The CEL does come on while cranking.
HPOP Res is full
Fuel filter is full
MaxiFuse #22 is good, never blown
NO SMOKE out of tail pipe while cranking.
Is this a IPR problem?

Could be, but it could also be a few other things. First thing to do is get the code checked. You could replace the IPR if you feel like just throwing parts at it until something fixes it.
Did your tach move with the old CPS?
Did the engine sputter and die or just shut off?

I did not have a way to check the codes.
I took the valve covers off, and had three smoked injector wire harnesses.
Replaced with the new kind, the ones that are attached to the new gasket, and then spliced in all 4 new connectors from the outside harness.
Started right up.
The last time it did this, it just ran real rough, so I don't under stand why it just died, that had me confused.
