What are the best engine oil and oil filter recommendation for that engine?

 

Everyone has an opinion and some will recommend you to an oil forum, but I am pleased with Rotella 10W30 [synthetic blend] with a Motorcraft FL-1A filter. Both are readily and economically available @ Walmart.

Rotella-T 10/30, 15/40 MotorCraft, Wix or Bosch Filter

 

I've been using Chevron Delo 15w40 and 10w30. These are diesel engine oils, as are Rotella, and have some ZDDP (zinc) to help with the flat tappet cam in the 300.

I would stay away from oil rated API SN. These newer oils aren't good for flat tappet engines.

Motorcraft filters of course. Can't beat them for price/performance.
