That's interesting on the hood trim. The easy tell is a check of the leading edge; it needs to match the contours of the mating pieces.

You have one handsome beast in your driveway. Great find.

What a beautiful flat nose Monkey Face. The body looks very good.
Lots more pic's please. I hope the flat engine will free up and come
to life for you. It's an awesome engine it is. Change out the axle and
maybe the tranny to get her up to speed. But please save the Flatty.
It's a sweet engine all the way around. Just wait till ya hear it cackle
back coming down hill on compression. A sweet sweet sound.
Gary knows what I am trying to say.

You appear to have two right side emblems. Interestingly enough, mine has two lefts. We might be able to help each other on this.

Great news!! SHE SPINS!!!

Pulled the stater out and it spins freely REALLY smooth! noticed a lot of the heater hoses, cap and wires look somewhat fresh 3-5 years (maybe?)

IS there only one flathead for this year? Same one that came in the cars? I want to order a carb kit and tune up kit. Needs coil and plugs at least. Where can I get the numbers off the chassis/body/engine to confirm the motor?

links to carb kits?

I have a link to Vanpelt Sales for the tune up parts... anywhere else to look?

Any direction would be greatly appreciated!

Your truck would have the 239 cubic inch 100 horsepower V8. As far as most parts houses are concerned it is the same as the car engine. You need Champion 844 or Autolite 216 spark plugs. The CarQuest carbuetor kit # is ECC-1434, any decent store should be able to cross reference it for you. I would clean your points and test your coil before replacing them A lot of new ignition parts are really marginal quality. When you buy your oil filter take a look at the hole in the center. If you can put your finger in it they gave you the six cylinder filter cartridge.

Vacuum two speed rear axle. Always a welcome option on a truck like this.

Info is available on those pretty easily--google "eaton vacuum two speed" or variations and you will get actual Eaton info, manuals etc. Pretty simple set up, easy to fiddle with for basic adjustment on the shifting.

Good luck with it!

Bud you started this thread. It's your build thread, or I would think
should be. Just keep us updated here and ask away. Another thread
would prolly just confuse me.

Sorry...poor Forum Etiquette....

Today I was able to figure out the remote oil filter canister, removed due to the 1" of muck in the bottom. Removed lines (dry rotted) and need replaced. Also drained the oil and I think Im going to pull the 8" round plate off the bottom to see how much sludge is inside the pan too.

Yesterday I pulled the fuel pump and tank after removing the glass bowl and finding corrosives (about 1/2" built up in the bottom of the glass bowl. Ordered pump and dropped tank off to get boiled out, should be ready Tuesday.

It seems like someone, in the not to distant past; had attempted to get her running but gave up. I hope that doesn't spell doom for me! Oil filter was fairly new (or appeared to be) as well as plugs, cap, points and condenser.

I will have and idea by end of week if she will start and run by then I will have done the following:
R&R and rebuilt starter DONE $87.00
R&R and rebuilt carb $34.00
R&R new fuel pump $51.00
R&R gas tank Boiled out including replacing or boiling out fuel lines $110.00
Replaced heater hoses DONE $22.00
replaced spark plug wires $35.00
R&R distributor inspect and reinstall $0.00 DONE
purchased new 6volt battery and instal $84.00 DONE
oil filter $6.50
oil lines ????????

Radiator hoses look fairly new, The 86'd the steel hard lines and used flex hoses, will work for now. Im going to fill radiator to see if it leaks It may not until it gets pressurized.

Also took OEM seats out and took to my buddy to re-upholster after the frames got blasted and powder coated. Wont see them for a week and a half..

After I get her running, I move to shifting and stopping. Ordered the chassis manual.

I do have the 20" split rims. What are other options??
