48 f1 wiper Linkage Qestion
Working on converting vacuum motor to electric and adding a Right Hand wiper to my 48f1. The truck has no wiper motors or linkage in it now. Have the vacuum motor and pivot for the left side from another truck. I bought a replacement electric motor from Speedway that is supposed to replace the vacuum motor with electric. I bought a right hand pivot assembly with linkage back to the left side off of eBay(hasn't arrived yet). I ordered new bezels, pivot shaft nuts, gaskets, linkage grommets, small arm clips, and a pivot spline repair kit from Dennis Carpenter.
There is another part shown in the LMC catalog and a few other sites called "linkage arm clip & spring". It looks like two plates with about 1/2" holes in them, connected together with a spring. It looks like it is supposed to put a little tension on something to keep it together, but I don't know where it goes. I went ahead and ordered one. Anyone have any experience with these parts, or have a diagram of the 48-50 f1 wiper linkage, with right hand wiper?

Yes it is item no. 5 in the LMC picture. Looks like I will have a spare, as I already have new wiper arms and blades for the installation. Thanks for the diagram.

I'm using the same Speedway electric conversion kit in my '49 F4. I had to file the drive piece on the electric motor to fit into the socket on the original wiper base. It was too large to fit in the socket. You will also have to modify the defrost vent piece under the dash above the wiper motor. The electric motor is larger and won't fit unless you cut part of the defrost piece away.
