Unhappy what can I do to a 3.0

I'm a new ranger owner I own a 93 ranger splash. I have a 3.0 in it. I'm wondering what can I do to the engine to make it perform better in the way of speed without comprmising much gas mileage. So... What can I do to my truck and who makes the stuff I need to make this possible. Thanks for your time.

Easiest thing you can do is eliminate the restrictive intake and exhaust, and since you have a '93, try advancing your timing to around 12-14 degrees. It comes with the timing set at 10, but you should be able to advance it 2-4 degrees, just watch for pinging. If it pings, turn it back down and go with a higher grade gas and try turning it up again.

I agree, many people upgrade the exhaust on their 3.0L Rangers and claim they experience better performance AND gas mileage.

1. K&N air filter-I got better throttle, was very peppy but still slow.
2. Flowmaster-I almost tripled my highway miles per gallon, is geting faster as we speak.
3. Synthetic oil-trust me it works well for mpg.
4. upgrade your spark plugs to a four-prong piece.
5. header wrap-reduces engine bay heat, gives cool air to intake.
Most of the other stuff for performance is just for the bigger engines(doh). Hope this helps.

Almost tripled your highway miles per gallon??? What were you getting before the Flowmaster, and what were you getting after you installed the Flowmaster?

If he keeps making "mods", he is going to have to start draining
gas regularly to keep the tank from overflowing!!!!

Is it even worth it to cut out the stock muffler and replace it with a flowmaster or do I really need to get the whole kit???
Thanks..

I completely took the muffler off my 97 taurus. The resonator keeps exhaust noises down. Luckly I down have any sound/emissions regulations here.
