I just bought a hopefully good used engine from a crashed 1994 F150 from a salvage yard for my 86 f150. While I was stripping all the efi stuff off to put my carbs and mechanical fuel pump on I noticed that it has the roller cam in it. I didn't think they had the roller in 94 in the trucks. Anybody know when they started doing that?

The block will have a casting number that begins with F4TE above the starter.

Google F4TE for a picture. My gallery won't let me edit it for some reason, or I would have added one this morning.

Right... the Gallery feature is deprecated and replaced with Albums... no additional editing of Galleries can take place.

Thanks for the info guys. I wasn't sure what year they started using the roller cam. anyway I got her in and started. I was worried for a while because it had some bad lifter ticking for a while. It started to quiet down till it just had one ticking. It finally quit and now sounds quiet. I think the lifters just went dry from setting in the storage bin at the salvage yard. Just doing some fine tuning now. I installed one of those cheap Assult ebay intakes on it also. I was surprised that it fit really good. Also bought one of those GM style HEI distributors in it. I have one of those in my 84 and it's been perfect. So all in all it doesn't sound too bad.
