Hard to find engine parts for a 272
Hey folks
I am going to overhaul a 272 engine. To my surprise I find it difficult to find pistons and rings. It need to be at least 0,60 oversize.
At Summit I can find pistons but not the rings to fit ! ?? The same for 0,80 oversize. I have learned that 292 STD pistons also can be used. But also here no rings to fit.
WHO are the specialist supplier for y block engine parts

John Mummert is the "go to guy" for Y block stuff.

I bet you can find .020 to .060 pistons and rings but not .080 ; looks like he has what you need.

Try EGGE Machine. The specialize in parts for older cars. They have piston, rings whatever you need for your 272. Including .080 over pistons and ring sets. F272M55
If you decide to go the 292 route, ensure you have your block sonic tested to ensure the core hasn't shifted and the cylinder walls are thick enough to accept the larger bore.
