Question 1992 SINGLE WHEEL 1 TON

Hello all. New to this forum and have some questions.. OK first I have a 92 F-350 4x4 5 speed. Frame up restore. Engine is a 351 Windsor. Ive read factory horsepower and torque is 215 hp 310 ft.lbs. Mods are .030 over bore, factory speed density trash removed, performer rpm intake, 2 inch spacer, 650 holley dp, Lunati Voodoo cam 219/227 duration 499/522 lift, gt 40p heads, heads and intake gasket ported and polished, msg 6al box, duraspark style electronic ignition, a/c and smog delete, full length headers to 3 inch straight duel exhaust. Was wondering about how much hp and tq gain ill have?

Well the combination sounds solid. Given good tuning it would not surprise me to see a solid 250 at the wheels. There is a lot of loss in 4wd t-cases. That cam is going to have the power in the mid to upper RPM range. Is this going to be for mostly mud?

The motor will make 300-350hp depending upon how good a porting job was done but considering the size and weight of the vehicle it's going in I would have gone with a bit less cam to give the motor more lowend grunt.

Thanks for the input guys. I was thinking around 325 hp and hope 380ish ft.lbs of torque...Conanski I have gaskets for a 98 Explorer and heads and intake are gasket ported to them gaskets. Polishing was done to the valve on heads and about 3 inches into the intake. Ponykilr you may be right about to much cam. I had 1.7 roller rockers for it but will be using 1.6. The truck is what I use to haul firewood and logs. Lunati lists the powerband at 1600 to 5600. My truck is a 4:10 gear 5 speed with a ceramic button clutch. winter I run on 38x12.50x16.5. Rest of the year I run on 35x12.50x16.5. I mainly pull a trailer and do once in a while like to play in the mud. A lot of times I have to really spin to get out of the woods with a load. low elevation in central Missouri gets muddy.

Which is a bit of a mismatch for this combo, these heads are still a bit small for the displacement which means peak HP will be at 5000rpm or less so 1 step down on the cam will produce better results.

Are you saying you are planning to use the intake manifold from a 5.0L engine? If so, it will not fit the 5.8L engine without an adapter.

I got the impression he was doing a carb setup from the opening post but good question all the same.

Conanski I see the error of my ways. Im Going to order the next size down Lunati Voodoo cam. Its 213/219 duration and 483/499 lift powerband 1000 to 5500. ral2005 That's a negative. I have an Edelbrock Preformer RPM 351 Windsor intake. The gt40 gaskets pretty much fit the ports on the intake, the heads had some port work to match. Yes carb. Holley 4150 mechanical 650cfm Double Pumper with 30cfm accelerator pumps, #31 nozzles, 68 primary jets and 74 sec jets....... On the cam listed above would you go with 1.7 rockers or stay with 1.6?

Only parts off of a 5.0 are the GT40p (4 bar) heads

1.7 rollers would be better across the board, but wont work miracles, so if you don't have the coin for them 1.6 is fine.

That cam essentially produces 0.500" lift with 1.6 rockers and these heads don't flow any more with added lift beyond that point so I say save your money.

But it will give him greater lift on both ends of max cam lobe height for the entirety of the valve event, which would be beneficial. That's in addition to the rollers freeing up a few hp.
