Haulers/Road Warriors - Where do you mount your antennas?

I have some big antennas to put on my truck, what do you guys use as a mounting solution? I'm going between a stake hole mount (top of the bed), or mounting right angles of iron to the bumpers.

What's a "big" antenna?

I have a 36" fiberglass nightstick mounted on a bracket on the front bulkhead of the bed on my truck.

I had dual 102" whips on my 88 Ranger mounted in the front steak holes in the bed when I was a teenager, those things could pick up talk on the CB radio from multiple states away!

The first few times you pull up to a drive-through window with an overhang is priceless with a 102" whip, the window people always jump the first few times it hits.

Well, the two I have are:

Comet 8900 antenna for my 8900R
108" Whip for my eventual 706 + Auto tuner

I'm just looking for a decent solution. The tool box idea sounds great, I bet the soft tonneau could be modified to work around that too.

I'm trying to imagine a ranger with two giant whips bolted to it

Ha! It was a little over kill on a very tired old Ranger but I had a blast doing crazy stuff like that at the time. My wife says that she wouldn't have dated me if I'd was still driving that truck, hope that's not entirely true as I have plans for the 89 Ranger when I get it back on the road......

I have two stainless steel angle iron brackets mounted inside the bed on the front stake pockets with 3/8" x UHF antenna mounts for a bugcatcher on the drivers side and a 6m whip on the other side. Should hold a 102" whip but I worry about it slapping into the cab. Also have two more angle iron brackets with NMO chassis mounts for the UHF and 220 on the rear stake pockets. Antenna bases are just below the top of the bed rails, doesn't seem to hurt performance. The walls of the stake pockets inside the bed seem stiffer than the top of the rail. Be sure you get a good chassis ground to whatever mount you use, braid to the frame is a worthwhile investment.
