No... these are pictures hosted here on FTE, and there is no such facility to copy pictures from someplace else and inject 'em into storage here.
The IMG functionality (which can still be used) allows sourcing of an image that's located anyplace on the 'net (that's publicly viewable).

Well, maybe they have changed something and not told us but I really kind of doubt it...
Yes, pushing the button with the mountain now brings you an entirely new dialogue, and can even let you drag-n-drop pictures from your desktop.
But copying pictures from other hosting sites? I really doubt it..........

I just looked at mine... it contains only images which I have uploaded to here... yes, that drag-n-drop thing can be pretty convenient and handy, but it is *me* dragging (or navigating to a picture on my computer) pictures into it and thereby uploading them into one of *my* albums (with the default being My Post Pictures (or some such)).
Point being, it is *me* copying stuff into the albums, not the software going and doing it behind my back.
I suspect you're just not aware of what's really happening when you place pictures into that new application... but it's doing only what you tell it to, it's not doing anything devious behind your back.

which im not saying its a bad thing.. because ive used it to get around the filtering some companies used to block images.. such as there a few people i talk to here that when theyre at work they cant view PB images because their administrators at work blocked PB.. ive uploaded them here via the PB links using that feature so they could view the image... but for what my original point was if your not aware that the site is saving it there like that to your albums its very easy for something like what the OP is commenting about with the obscene pictures... so yah that picture you may have meant to be sent privately just got uploaded to the public album and now is ending up in that "whats trending now" album..

Yeah, OK, I think I see what you're saying... I just created a post in the Testing forum and gave it the URL of a picture hosted on some other site... it copied it and uploaded it to my album (My Post Pictures or some such).
Whether this is good or bad, I don't know... the page *is* entitled "Upload Images" so in a way it's telling you you're uploading images to someplace and not just sourcing them, but it's not really clear.
So, yes, what you're saying could be at least part of an explanation for what's happening BUT... in the PM screen, clicking the button gives you the traditional "give me the URL to your picture" which I haven't tried but I imagine it's *not* copying to your album when inserting an image into a PM.
I'm impressed they actually have an image button in the PM editor now.
I have always typed in the IMG code manually and never used the button for such things.

i do anymore as its quicker than hitting the button sometimes.. especially now with the new uploader thing... takes forever for it just to load the window for me.. where the old one was quicker.. after watching how the tags worked on other sites with VBbulletin i just started typing it..

This is true, but we need to be clear... pictures do not make their way to that Album when one manually types in the IMG code... they get there when using the mountain-button application and giving it a URL to an already-hosted image (which it then copies into your Album).
