3.2 L Powerstroke in Transit Van?

I am new to this forum. Wondering about the best engine choice between 3.2L Powerstroke or 3.5 L eco-boost in new Ford Transit Van. This is a work van that will be used 80000 miles per year. Cost of future engine replacements and availability of replacement parts? Fuels costs are a major factor in my decision.

My typical loads are 2000# or less - however I need 9500 GVWR to qualify for some good large loads. Most of the miles will be highway and I want to be able to run this new Transit Van 10 years.

My current 2004 E350 van v10 6.8 has 813000 miles and burns a quart of oil per 1000 miles - time to replace. (heads and pan never off)

Comments appreciated

Not much help here, but it would be nice to know what fuel prices are going to do. Where I live diesel doesn't seem to have come down in price at all. This is a big decision considering how long you keep your vehicle on the road for. 10 years is longer than a lot of peoples marriages lol.

On the transit forum there are some nice MPG reports with the new diesel engine. Sound like a winner from that standpoint.

I am going from a 7.3 powerstroke F250 to the T250 van but getting the ecoboost this time as I don't do near enough miles to justify the extra cost.

I would assume that the OP is factoring in fuel costs as this seems to be how he earns his living. There are reports (no links, sorry) of ecoboost engines with as much as 400K miles on them and still doing fine.

I would likely opt for the 3.2L as this is an engine that Ford has advertised as a high endurance engine. They all should be with proper maintenance as you've already proven.

The OP's years of average costs included a lot of time where diesel was cheaper than gas though. For a few years now, diesel has been the same price and more than gas, the next 10 years on the new van will likely be a different story. No way to tell for sure though.
