At least ya got um down to 3500 ..Looks clean as far as the body goes, I'd like to see what the engine compartment looks like..never used 4x4 could be worse than actually been used besides how can anyone prove that? High miles....not so much a problem if it was maintained just be aware that it may turn into a real project at some point. Is it priced high for your area?
Highly sought after in your area(supply and demand)?
Any others comparable for sale?
One owner with maintenance records?
Accidents?
Clean title?
Burning oil?
Smog requirements in FL?
On and on I could go..lots to consider.....
$3500 for a gas truck with 260k miles, that seems pretty steep to me. If it were a diesel or a 300-6, then it might be worth it, but I wouldn't put down that much money for a 5.8 and e4od with 260k on them.
Definitely compression check it, and ask if it uses any oil. Cosmetically at least it looks to be in great shape. If the mechanicals are in good shape, maybe I'd pay $3000, but I'd be trying real hard to get that down to the $2500 neighborhood.
Depending on location the rust-free body could easily make it worth it. Up here in the salt belt no one would have any trouble selling a running truck with a rust-free body for $3500.
Keep in mind that the purchase price and monies to make the truck 100% roadworthy is you actual cost of acquisition. Seems a little on high side to me.
I'm in FL and paid $3400 for my rust free supercab 4x4 with 22x,xxx miles and a damaged fender. The guy said he was the third owner and claimed the transmission was rebuilt and a used transfer case put in. He had all the maintenance records for the truck and sure enough I found one from a local transmission shop stating it had been rebuilt and had a used transfer case put in. That alone was worth paying his asking price, since an E4OD rebuild is easily $1500. It also came with a fiberglass camper top that I sold for $150.
I payed $4000 for my 93 F250 4X4 89,000 miles, new paint, new 265/75/16 Nexen Roadian MT Tires. Interior in perfect shape, everything in working order.
I too and from the rust belt Buffalo NY but am now in Florida i really think even after all tests and checking it over its worth 2900 to 3100 but i offered him that and he wouldn't take it. I am highly mechanically inclined but at this point i don't want to rebuild a motor or tranny in the next year besides at work so i probably going to have to pass on it
