Led light bar wire routing.

Alright guys need some help from the guys running cab mounted led light bars.
How are you getting the wiring inside the cab? I'm getting the bar for Christmas I need to order my brackets from Khal Kreations. just need to know how everyone is getting the damn wiring inside the cab without drilling holes in the roof.

Thanks Guys
P.S. what is everyone else using for mounts. Post some Pics.

I did read and the last post. there is no where to run a wire that is going to look good at all.

YES, you can run it down the A-piller but it will look like dog $#!+ or run it to the 3rd brake light and drill a hole there.

I've heard either in through one of the cab mounts, preferably the pass side or through a pillar somewhere but that requires drilling

Drilling as long as it's not in the roof doesn't bug me. Maybe drill a hole in the closest cab light back and see if I can fish it in that way. I have my old lights still I can play with

How many amps does your LED light bar draw?

I just drilled a hole in the roof and installed a waterproof 3A charging socket for my 20W worth of lights.
If I had a 3rd brake light I would have used that.

I like this option because I can disconnect and pop the attached rubber plug in the socket.

Ardwrktrk sounds interesting do you have any pictures? I thought about the third brake light but then the wite goes all the way across the roof. Crew cabs have long roofs lol

D'oh!
Yes, yes they do.

I'm on my phone, but can take a pic while it's still daylight.

How does your lightbar mount?
I'd be tempted to hide it there.

You obviously need more current than my little panel mount can handle.

Most guys just drill a hole in the roof then use a grommet and some 3M body sealer to keep the water out. I think if I was going to do it I would have a custom-made MIL spec connector made. Race teams use this style of connector in the engine bay to facilitate quick engine changes. One plug will disconnect the engine harness and you're done. The connectors are waterproof and dustproof used in aviation and military components. The only really clean way to do it is to drill a hole in the roof but if you install one of these MIL spec connectors at least you have a permanent solution that will not leave you with A leaky roof or worse.

It's not a rocketship, it's a lightbar.
He only needs hot and ground.
Any weatherproof, panel mount, coaxial socket will get him two poles!

$2, not 200.

I didn't know they used Milspec plugs on rockets ships, cool..another option would be the same plug used on RV's when plumbing the connections for solar panels from the roof but you still need to put pooky on it to seal it, also I don't think they make a 90deg plug for it. I might entertain the coax idea since it low amperage but you still need a good transition from the roof line into the vehicle. I seriously Doubt a 2 dollar plug will have the same capability to resist weather and possible short which could zap the light bar especially in a north facing position. MIL spec plugs can be found on eBay for much les than $200 like under $30. I am open to other options, as I'll be installing my own light bar soon..

Thanks guys I'm going to drill a hole in the side of my cab light and need a socket or outlet I can mount in the side of them. The bar is 300 watts. 30 amps. So if you have anything that will work let me know.
