Motor Trend is a car magazine and not a very good one at that. I'm actually surprised people still read it. I doubt any of the articles authors spent much time behind the wheel of any pickup trucks let alone the previous F150. If they had they would have notices there is a significant difference between the old F150 and the new. Also there is no science to there test procedures, they are purely subjective.

When Motor Trend passes out its so-called awards its a win-win for all concerned---that's been a well known thing for a long long time.
The magazine and manufacturer both cross-promote the awards, it sells the magazine both to haters and loves of the brand and honestly the criteria they use to make those awards is almost never the same I'd use choosing a new vehicle.

I stopped reading dead tree auto and truck magazines around Y2K. When I want information I find people who maintain fleets and ask them, and of course I use this outstanding forum.
Magazines exist to sell adverts. I won't spend money to be lied to and I don't care what an editor or staffer or anyone else not a mechanic thinks about a vehicle.
At FTE I can learn from mechanics who have spun wrenches on whatever I might be interested in. They aren't paid advertising hacks and have no reason to shovel nonsense.
