Your build is coming together really well. I think I should have done what you did and stripped it all down, had it blasted and powder coated, because everything looks so damned clean! Love the colour. One thing's certain, you will see her coming!

I haven't done much lately too many other things going on. But I did get the cab back on the frame last night. I have a question about the steering wheel maybe someone could answer. I work on newer cars and the steering wheel and shaft are notched so that they go together only one way. on my truck the steering shaft has a notch but the steering wheel doesn't. is this normal for these older trucks?

Well I have some of the cab put back together, it's amazing to me how much time it takes to put the little things back in place. I put the setup engine and transmission back in just to get it out of the way and I thought I should try the headers ( I didn't have them when I was setting everything up ) guess what, they don't fit. The drivers side fit perfect passenger side didn't fit. The headers are Sanderson FF427 the engine mount was bought from ford barn but it looks just like what everybody else is selling. Long story short after a week of messing around I have the headers fitting.
It's been a long winter and it's time to get out of the shop and spent some time outside with family and friends, flying my RC airplanes and helicopters and drinking a couple cold ones. Life is good.

It's looking great. Yeah, something always seems to come up that slows you down or takes some extra thinking to make work.

I just noticed your steering wheel question. These old wheels don't have any setting notches. You have to line up your steering and place the wheel from there.

It's been awhile, but I started working on the 53 a couple month ago. I have the new motor a trans in place I can't wait to hear it run, I was thinking on getting a aluminum radiator from Midfifty one that looks like original. anybody that has used one I would like your opinion.
I started painting and hanging sheet metal. It's starting to look like truck again.

I got the hood painted, sanded and buffed. that was the easy part. getting the front sheet metal all lined up was a project an a half. now the part that I have been putting off, fixing the right fender.

I told the guy at the paint store I needed sungate ivory and that is what he gave me. I have no idea if it's right but thought it looked good against the yellow.

Well, The Ford dealer literature in 1954 says the grille color is Sungate Ivory wnich is a neutral color that goes well with any body color. And it does.

It's been a couple of busy weeks The wife and I went to Barrett Jackson auction and the Steelman auction we saw a lot of awesome cars and last weekend was model airplane stuff, but in between all that I got the fender repair and painted. The radiator from Midfifty show up yesterday looks awesome and fits well, I'll paint the radiator and fan shroud this week. Next up is starting the wiring I hope I have some hair left when I'm done. I also have a new helper Bear likes to clean my glasses when ever I get to his level.

Nicely done! Is the Sungate Ivory also the original color of the wheels?

Good looking work buddy. I guess he'll become your riding buddy later on?
