87 electrical problem help
My 1987 ranger 2.9L xlt is having problems with working directionals and heater when started but in accesory mode they work fine idk what the problem is just got a new alternator and now they r not working
any ideas?
i did have flood lights installed by my grandfather we r checking the wires for those and the wires that come from alternator

I also have an 87 Ranger xlt 2.9 Great little truck.
Simple test. Turn the key to accessory & pull fuse 5, the turn signals should quit working. If they do you need to test for a cross in the ignition switch.
To test the ignition switch remove the 2 lower screws from the plastic steering
column shroud, squeeze the lower & remove the upper.
Remove the electrical connector from the switch & connect your ohm meter to pins A2 & BATT. If you can make and break the circuit by turning the key from off to accessory replace the switch its shorted out.
