This is a window that I installed and the cedar trim around it......

I am in progress of replacing all windows and the door to the deck. Then painting the house. Already replaced the roof.

The two PVC pipes are the cold air intake and the exhaust for the gas fired furnace....
The electrical service with meter......
To the right of the electrical meter is the air intake and exhaust (metal pipe) for the tankless hot water heater, gas fired.
Further to the right is the vent for the bathroom exhaust fan.
Blue colored disk is a plug from a prior hot water heater exhaust vent.
To the left of the electrical meter box is the piping for the A/C unit...... And cables from the outside TV antenna.....and power for the A/C unit and for an outside electrical outlet.

That is about it......

The siding is being sanded getting ready to prime and paint with two coats.....

True...... The furnace intake ans exhaust have distance requirements from each other and the water heater intake and exhaust and the window.....
Good point though..... I'll work on that.

Trimming out a window or door with Cedar is old school and how my house is trimmed out. New houses in my neighborhood are all trimmed with pre-painted chip board products.

Yep..... And the trim won't rot and looks much better IMO.....
I wanted to put a clear sealer on it....... But Lynn wants a dark gray semi-gloss paint........

I concur with using ceder, but only if the majority of the job is done that way. If the rest of the siding is something easily eaten up then cedar trim becomes irrelevant.

Now yes, my opinion is at some point you should clean up the appearance of that unsightly wall of pipes, vents, wires, etc. Perhaps covering it all up with a screen that affords the proper ventilation?
Admitting to my faults, I really need to replace some very weathered siding surrounding my house... however other more important projects must come first.

Military (retired pay) ain't what most would think of as generous. Nor are our social security benefits.

Go Army, beat Navy.

We will see what happens at the next Army - Navy game....

I will put some thought into the vent pipe mess......
I wanted to replace the siding, but funds would not allow it.

Aren't you supposed to have paper flashing around the window first? That's the way it's done here anyway.
