Winter driving
I had questions about a Dually vs. SRW in ice and snow.
I had a SRW 2001 F-350 for 3 years. In the ice and snow up to 8 - 10" the SRW did ok, but most of the time I used 4-wheel drive due to the very poor starting traction in town when there was ice and hard packed snow. I put winter tires with studs on all 4 wheels the 2nd winter. Helped a bunch. I also had 6 - 8 60Lb bags of sand in the bed.
The new DRW.......Jolly Green. As of yet, no sand bags. Factory A/T tires by BFGoodrich. I am get far superior traction in 2-wheel drive then I got with the SRW. I am driving on icy roads and roads with 4 - 6" of snow so far. I don't need 4-wheel drive.
Hummm.......Jolly Green has Limited-Slip rear end. the SRW 2011 did not, but had e-lock rear end.

Yeah,
I thought that the DRW did pretty good last year as well.
I think the LS rear end helps more than the e-locker.
e-locker will disengage if you go too fast is my understanding.

I understand, if you aren't going pretty straight, you don't want to engage e-locker.

Lockers will cause the truck to tend to plow forward and not turn. That is why they turn off above 20mph. Lock the front and rear and then good luck turning at all

SPE diesel makes software to keep the e-locker engaged above 20mph.

Today was another "school" day.......Had to figure out how to remove the center hub on the rear dually .........Made a tool out of a coat hanger. Long hook with handle.
Then the easy part.......put on the SS braided air lines to extend the valves to an accessible location.
WELL Worth it !!
The center Hub had to be removed to pop rivet the bracket to the hub.
