Good morning everyone!
Looks like we'll have to put off our 2 night trip this weekend due to heavy rain and thunderstorms Saturday. Some are predicted to be right over the State Park that sometimes floods with heavy rain. 3 to 4 inches is forcasted.

Roy, those shackles can flip on their own if you lift the whole trailer at once. I've had mine flip a few times using the Level up system to get all 6 tires off the ground at once. Did you ever have all 4 tires off the ground at once? If so, that's likely when the shackles flipped. Also, to fix the issue if it ever happens again, you just use the front legs. On level ground, run them all the way to their max extension. The shackles will flip back with a bang. It will literally sound like a gun going off. The first time it happened to me (when I first got the RV and had all 6 wheels off to get my GY's mounted up), I removed a bolt from the equalizer and flipped it back by hand as I didn't realize what happened (or the easy way to fix it). When asked my buddy at XLR about it he laughed and said it happens all the time and even many experienced RV tech's don't know the quick fix. He told me about the raising the front end trick and said he's done it to a few guys to scare the chit out of them. He said he has them kneel down and watch the shackles and says, "tell me if anything changes" as he giggles and raises the nose... then BANG! and they have a heart attack and roll backward... LOL

Rodney is 100% on the money here Roy. Both my trailers shackles will flip if all 4 wheels are off the ground at once. To save the hassle I use a strap from the front axle on both sides to the frame. Then everything lifts happy. I have had the dump trailer shackles flip once empty on severe situations like backing into an uphill driveway. Doubt it would do it loaded, or that the camper would as the springs will be flatter and essentially longer.

Thanks for the lesson / feedback.......
The first time I noticed the problem, the trailer had been at a suspension shop to correct the bad tire wear problem. (which they didn't). So that is when it happened and they were too dumb to correct it.

I was thinking that your trailer was fairly new at just a few years old.
But with all the problems, was second guessing myself, that no maybe you bought it used and well worn already. Sorry its such a mess under there for you buddy.

No news on the Raptor.......

The Montana is a little under gross weight..... Last summer I weighed it when fully loaded for our summer trip. Just under 17,000 lbs, which included about 3,000 lbs on the pin.

It's easier to spot on a tri-axle Roy. On mine, if the shackles get flipped, the center and rear tires get so close they are almost touching while the front to center axle clearance gets wider...

I was forced to purchase a new toy today......

I was in North40......a Ranch & farm Supply store......I was looking at the DeWalt battery powered Impact Wrench....... 1200 ft/lbs of reverse torque. Charger and two 5A batteries. $449 ($393 from Amazon). The sales guy suggested I look at the new Milwaukee 1400 ft/lbs Impact Wrench..... Charger and two 5A batteries..... $419.......PLUS $100 discount if I spend $25 on a Milwaukee accessory. There is always a small toy needed........ So the Milwaukee kit cost me $320........

Those impact guns are great! My son runs a Peterbuilt truck, and he likes to toy around with some of the older ones. He recently bought an old one that has set for several years. He got the one step down Milwaukee gun, and it took a rusted lug nut off of that truck that his 1inch pneumatic gun would not budge. Be warned that gun will twist the studs off of your wheels if you are not careful!
