I had it on my 2011 and it was always in the effing way in the factory position.
Hi Dak......Yes I am taking photos as I go.....

You con see the 7-pin connector just over the top of the hitch. Port side of the box, near the far back.<br/>

Where I am putting the 7-pin connector is on the inside of the tailgate .........looking between the hitch and the stripper pole.......far upper right corner of the tailgate.

Interesting place... Won't that mess you up when trying to load things into the truck?

I know I load the back of mine up all the time... I guess no matter where it is, it's not going to be ideal. (Unless somehow it could be recessed in the side of the bed. )

So what is the reason for moving the 7 pin connector to the tailgate?

It can be recessed in the side of the bed......I did it on the 2011. THe tailgate is so handy.....It will not interfere with loading stuff in the bed. A sheet of plywood goes right past it. You'll see later, the location is far to the side of the tailgate. If you were that far over to the side, sliding in a sheet of plywood, you would hit the wheel wells.

As I hit submit I was just thinking that it might be over far enough to not get in the way of loading plywood. I still load up tons of stuff and use the sides of the tailgate. (or at least I used to when I was feeling better)

You may need to reread the contract Roy. We already agreed on trucks! They can be aluminum trucks, but trucks nonetheless.
