Roy,

Your experience is telling me my truck is working as designed. My problem in comparing is that my 2011 wasn't operated in cold temps for very long.

So the fact that I am getting heat and the temp needles are far to the left means my supplemental heater is working. When I remote start the air coming out is cool but warm enough to melt the ice off the windshield.

Ohh and 31f and raining here. Nice coat of ice on everything.

I'm pretty sure Ford does not recommend a winter cover on these trucks.
When the 6.7 came out Ford also discontinued the cover it had distributed previously.

Exactly what my service manager told me when I asked about a winter cover. He said Ford no longer recommends them. He suggested it was best to take Ford's recommendation seriously since it could result in a question down the road if a cover was used against Ford's recommendations.

The service manager at my dealer is a straight shooter and takes good care of me so I'l abide by his recommendation. The motor seems to warm up fine on the road - it's just around town for short trips that it never warms up.

I'm just wondering if Ford no longer recommends their use in the Arctic though.

In the single digits, I have driven in the city and had both temp gauges go back to not registering any heat. When I am on the highway the temp gauges moved up a quarter of the way.

I have had one since I bought my truck, this is my 5th winter with it. It is not only great to help your truck warm up and stay warm, it also prevents your air filter from getting plugged with snow.

As for what ford recommends .......
Who cares

Get one

Dak, I saw your question in another thread. I have the vinyl full cover. I leave it on all winter. I just open the flaps if the temps get above freezing. Take it off in the spring

That is what I thought. Since there are a lot of things that you have to do that Ford doesn't recommend. Like Battery and oil pan warmers.

If my mileage keeps this up, a transmisson pan warmer may be in order too.

I do notice that the truck lets the OIL temp in this beast get a little hotter than the 2011. Unless I was going up a hill or pulling I never broke 200. I seem to see 208 a lot. Maybe the truck knows its cold out and lets the temp get up a little bit higher?

That is NOT fun stuff.........
You need a few inches of snow and 10*F.....Your truck will do well.

The trip to the Dealer today was uneventful.........

The paint sealer/protection seems like a wax like material. The surface is slick as silk.....
The interior got a spray coating that should help protect it. How great, or not, this is.......
Time will tell.....

The DuraFlaps showed up today......

Weather permitting......They will go no tomorrow. They are Heavy and BIG......Must be 1/4" Thick!!

I have some carbon nano based sort of stuff that I intend to use some day soon, but I have to wash, clay bar, and polish the paint first. As you are ALL aware, there is a lot of real estate to do all of that to - especially in your driveway. This sealer is semi-permanent. Nothing will stick to it or come from under it. The surface prep has to be perfect, or you will seal in the imperfections. Super easy to apply the sealer - just a pain to prep.

Gonna re-install the filters too?
