Question of the Week: Which engine should power the next Raptor?

The next gen Raptor is rumored to be set for a Detroit debut in January, so we want to know which engine you think should power the newest off-road ready F150.

Make your pick in the poll above and tell us why you went this way in the thread below!

I'm betting on a supercharged Mustang 5.0L. Haven't heard many issues with the 5.0L at all.

How about an updated version of something like a 460 super cobra jet?

A turboed V8 that also serves as the mid level Superduty Engine, of course the raptor would have SVT Tuning while the Superduty wouldn't.

I think a Super/Turbo 5.0L would do the job nicely...Personally I've always preferred Superchargers to Turbo's but Ford seem's to have refined the art of Turbocharging quiet well, so either or would work.

But a Forced Induction uptuned 5.0L could easily produce upwards of 550hp and 600lb/ft of torque, making it far superior to the current 6.2L's 411hp and 434lb/ft of torque, that only leave's the question of durability but really I don't think that would be a problem.

The only reason I didn't select an (All New V8) is just because I believe it's very unlikely. I think Ford would rather, work with their existing engines than to develop something from scratch purely for the Raptor...But then again they did just that with the 5.8L V8 used in the Shelby GT500 Mustangs so who know's.

6.7 diesel!

Come on Ford. Put on Diesel in the Raptor it will out sell and perform the gas by a mile.

I chose the SVT tuned 3.5L. The 3.5L has proven itself as an engine that can run with the V-8's. My next issue of course would be, is the Raptor slated to get the 10 speed trans?

Would love to see a factory tuned 3.5L EcoBoost in the Raptor. Might have to spec premium fuel like the Navigator, but that's no big deal.

It would have to be since its not coming out til 2016 or 2017 when they roll out the new transmissions. Maybe that's why they won't bring it out right away?

Would be funny if they used the V6 diesel they trolled us with last April Fools day for the Bronco.

I voted for all new V8 hoping that Ford finally offers an Ecoboost V8. It'd be a great engine for the Raptor as well as the whole Super Duty line.
