95 PSD lost all gears while driving really confused??

So today I was driving my truck down the road (95 PSD E4OD trans)as I always do and all of a sudden out of nowhere it was like my truck when into neutral I pulled over and tried putting my truck in every gear nothing it will move along at maybe half a mile an hour reving up transmission fluid looks as it should didn't smell burnt and level is okay trans wasn't hot to the touch nothing visible broken when I climbed under the truck I just Dont get it I was thinking maybe transmission filter? Or sheared the bolts off the flex plate? I have no idea please let me know if anyone as seen anything like this before thanks

4x4 or 2WD? Does the Park gear keep the truck from rolling?

Something mechanical broke inside the transmission. Take it out and tear it down to find out exactly what broke. There are several things that can break and cause this.

Yup I droped the pan and there was metal shaving everywhere in the fluid going to pick up a junk yard transmission this weekend. One more question will all e4od's bolt up to the Diesel's or is thr a difference between them?

you need a diesel trans. gas/diesel do not mix, they have different bell housing bolt patterns.

any year will work, as long as it is a diesel 4X4 E40D.
you will need a 4X4 case, otherwise the t-case will not bolt up.
