swapping a 5.0c6 to a 4.9 4speed

Hello everyone, hoping to get some insight on my situation

I'm trying to get out of thisnthe cheapest Incan by using everything I have.

I pulled the 5.0 out of my 83bronco with a c6 and purchased a 84f150 4.9 4speed. as parts for the bronco

I'm not sure if installing the 4.9 to the c6would be worth it because I have no kick down, also I wanna use the c6 for my 351efi. I have a flywheel for the conversion to auto.

If I install the 4.9 with the 4speed will my bronco transfercase bolt up(wanna say its a 245)or will I need the f150 transfercase?

Will my bronco front and rear drive shafts work or will I need to use the f150driveshafts? Think the rear is missing

I know my pedal assembly and ect will need to be installed? Is it doable with everything fromthe f150 or should some components be recommended replaced.

Not concerned about doing it, just mainly problems I will run into or if it isn't possible.

I have both trucks complete

Thank you guys

Bronco transfer case will bolt up IF the 4 speed is a 4x4 tranny.

Measure the length of the 4speed you have(there were several) and the length of the c6. If they are within a inch, your bronco driveshafts will probably work.

The 84 f150 pedals will bolt in the 83 bronco dash. You will have to also transfer over the hydraulic clutch master and it's components. You might have to drill a couple of holes for that, there may be some dimples already there to use for alignment.

You will have to take and drill out the frame brackets that accept the motor mounts from the f150 frame, and use bolts and bolt the 4.9 brackets into the bronco for the six to bolt in. You will also need the radiator and several other little parts from the f150.

The f150is a four wheel drive truck, so the tranny should be.

Transferring the clutch master and components(assuming dimples are there should help insure the linkages will line up alot better too.

When I pulled the motor I left the motor mounts bolted to the frame brackets so I wouldnt lose them or forget.

I knew the radiator would be different and the wiring harness once I found out its computer controlled and has o2 sensors(looked at rock auto for replacement parts and noticed), so that should be fun transferring that.

I just want to make sure I'm doing it the right way.would gearing be a factor too? I run no bigger that 33s and drive the highway a bit cause of work 50-70mph

Thanks pal

What is the gearing on both vehicles? There is a code on the driver's doorjamb sticker on both.

What is computer controlled? Neither one of these vehicles had EFI.

Does the manual have an overdrive? If so that will definitely help highway driving. What gearing does the truck have now?

The bronco has 3.55 not sure bout the f150. I know they are efi but, I saw a o2sensor in the f150 but it has a carb and it has computer hookup under the dash. Could be wrong though, I'm hoping its not computer controlled or anything. Thought 87and up were efi

A lot of the sixes were computer controlled. Look at the dist on the six. If it doesn't have a vacuum advance with a vacuum line, then it's got the computer. I would switch all that out.

Yeah it has a connector on the distributor, didn't wanna say it though. Can I get an older distributor to fix it? How can I bypass the ECU system if possible?

Those threads were awesome reference feel much better about it money wise, plus my bronco is 83 so I already have the harness needed
Thank you for that info!!

I looked at the granny last night when I was at the truck and it says ford Warner on it with a series of numbers that I couldn't really read/see. But the rear drive shaft is there along with the transfer case sitting on the seat of the cab.
