Banks exhaust housing #24450

Just wondering what the pro's (if any) or con's of running one of these are? I didn't come up with much in the search. Assuming on a mostly stock truck.

Thanks.

I personally dont see any point in spending any money on that company myself.

Banks says that powerstrokes are junk.
to buy their crappy products doesn't do you any good.

When it comes to our trucks, the stock turbo is great for standard stage 1's.

When you get a bit bigger, you can switch to the SDVan turbo, or a t4 mount turbo and get tons of bang for your buck.

You can get the same thing from vendors/sponsors for much cheaper. It's just a 1.0 exhaust housing. http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/garret...rbine-housing/

What I've learned so far. Banks does not like the powerstroke. The stock tubo will work with stage 1 injectors, and that I can get a 1.0 housing from a vendor cheaper than through banks.

My question. What are the pro's and con's of using an aftermarket housing. Apparently it's called a 1.0 in this instance.

Thanks.

1.0 is the ratio, relates to how "tight" the housing is, and the 1.0 moves the power/boost lower in the rpm band versus the stock 1.15 exhaust housing. You need to watch the EGT's in the higher rpm's, ie 2600 and above. There are people that have made 400hp with the 1.0 and still tow fine. Just watch your EGT's.

On the s366, I went from a .91 housing to a 1.0 housing to help control my EGT's. On the stock turbo years back, I went from the stock 1.15 to a 1.0 and burned up my turbo. Like Rusty said, watch your EGT's.

As far as Banks, all your paying for is the name.

not wanting to thread jack but I am curious about the 1.0 housing vs the stock one.
How much quicker does boost come in? Does max boost drop at all? How bad of a increase in egts?
cheers!

I really liked the 1.0 because it got me moving quicker with the 5er. I couldn't tell any difference in max boost. EGT's were higher. BUT, I eventually burned up the turbo and blamed it on the 1.0. If your not pulling heavy then its a good deal.
