Tranny question
I have a 95 Bronco 5.8 E40D 142k mi. that is getting the code that indicates the torque converter is slipping it only happens when using od. Trans shop said to change T. C. $500 or complete overhaul $1200.
Does it make sense to just replace just T. C. with this many miles
and are these reasonable prices?

I would think with that kind of milage, and if it's never been overhauled, you would probably be ahead if you did an overhaul.
If they put in just the converter, and you still have problems, you'll have to have the trans pulled again.
That sounds like a reasonable price, providing the builder knows his stuff.

$1200 is a good price for an overhaul, but make sure you take it to a reputable shop, and even check if there is a warranty offered. Drop the tranny once and get it over with, and you will be set for many miles.
