01 7.3 NO START, HOT OR COLD?

My most recent problem with my 2001 7.3 with 340,000 miles (not a problem till 339K) is it will not start unless its gets a shot of WD or you let it roll and drop the clutch? Injectors are rebuilt stock (Not the AA's anymore, lol) IPR and ICP are good, battery voltage and RPM when cranking is good, no smoke at all. I live on a hill and if I let it roll just enough to get it to turn over when I let the clutch out it will fire and run fine, turn it off and it will never start again. Now here is the really funny part, maybe related to this issue maybe not. When running ( shows a 14.4 charge, never changes), Sometimes, after I get it started, you hit the gas and its like you turned off the key, will not go or stay running., now if you pull the small outside wire on the Alt, not the plug, just the one wire, it will work and go great but then I have no charge and will drain the batts down, etc,
Any Ideas?

You say ICP, IPR, voltage and RPMs are good; I assume that is while running. What are those values while cranking?

Not a 747 pilot, but that's one of my favorite aircraft.

Anyhow, I'm thinking your ICP may be low while cranking. With a little more RPM when you pop start it, the ICP comes up just high enough for the PCM to allow the engine to start and run. Can you monitor ICP with a scan tool while cranking?

I think I need to get a scanner, seems like life would be much easier, any suggestions? It cranks over really fast, if the pump is wearing it will take more RPM to get the base oil pressure needed to start, correct? The gauge in the dash doesnt have anything to do with the Hpop??? it reads well on crank.
My dads a Retired 747 driver from Pan-Am,,,,
