some dipstick info needed..

Hey there..I happen to now own an 83" E150 cargo van conversion that is 4.9L powered. (4spd OD) I'm missing the dipstick. If anyone came across the oem part number for a NOS one I'd be grateful.

It's all original with a rear block dipstick and it appears to have come that way...thanks for any input.

Improvise

Find any dipstick that is too long, but still fits the tube. Park vehicle on level ground. Drain all oil from engine and oil filter. Let it drain to get all oil out (at least 15 minutes). Add new filter and replace pan plug. Fill it with oil as per the specs except for one quart. Start engine. Let it run long enough to fill filter and all oil passages. Shut off and let engine oil drain down into oil pan (at least 15 minutes). Pull dipstick and note the oil level. Drill 1/16" hole thru center of dipstick at that level. That is your " one quart low" mark. Add last quart. Note oil level. Mark dipstick at that level with a line or another small hole. This is the "full" mark. Trim off dipstick as necessary.

Thanks for the input. I'll note your method for getting creative for sure. I know "the zone" has some multifits that may work for that purpose. Of course these are pretty long. We'll get by, again thanks.
