Official EPA MPG numbers
#46
I couldn't tell you what the EPA numbers are for the Rangers. I can only relay my experience with them. I have never seen a 3.0L 4x4 after 2000. Not saying it wasn't offered, just saying I haven't seen one. All 3.0L Rangers post 2000 that I have seen are 2wd. And the automatic trans 3.0L's get about the same fuel mileage as the 4.0L. But the 5spd 3.0L does get over 20 mpg with 2wd. And yes, the 3.0L is slower than the 4.0L. But folks who buy this class of truck for fuel mileage aren't looking for neck-breaking acceleration. They are looking for a reliable and economical utility vehicle.
