My 95' 7.3 will just crank and crank but it won't start and smokes white out of the tailpipe, recently on startup it would start around 300 rpm and sputter up to idle in about 3 seconds

 

My truck did the same thing, try turning the key over and letting your truck cycle over a couple of times and replacing your cam sensor should do the trick

 

Do you have a wait to start light? Does the tach move while cranking?

Have you inspected the glow plug system, mainly the relay?

It is about that time of year, where problems with the glow plug system start to show their ugly head.

 

Does anyone have the link for the Glow Plug issues thread. I've searched and keep getting the one in the mod/tech link for glow plug R&R

 

This will get you what you need to know. It's for a super duty but it's close enough. Just remember your pins go gp,inj,ground,inj,gp

Just throwing a thought out here. My truck did the same thing here for a while. Ended up being batteries. One was at 9% the other was at 36%. They both should to be above 80%. I bought new batteries and never had an issue with startup and white smoke again.
