64 Long Tube Headers

Ok so I have decided to go with long tube headers for my 64 2wd. It is stock height and I don't plan on putting in any power steering. Are there any clearance issues with these reds full length at all?

Headers - Full Length for 2wd (not lowered) '54-'64 Truck [550-558] - $305.00 : Red's Headers, Speed Equipment For Old Fords

Also to ceramic coat them is very costly is it worth the money? Thanks.

I was considering the Speedway AHC ceramic coated headers here: 1953-1964 F100 Ford 272-312 Y-Block Chassis Headers, AHC Coated - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop

Under $300 shipped to your door. Let us know which way you go and update your install on the headers. Good luck!

I got a set from Red's a few months back and they fit perfectly--well made and nice sounding. Took a little while to get them, as they had to build up a set for me.

I tried a cheaper set from Patriot first, and they didn't clear the transmission crossmember. Bought them from Summit; they were very good about taking them back.

Jim, I like the looks and price of the Speedway headers, but I have heard they do not clear the steering box on a 64.

Have you called and asked?

First off Jacuzzi the Red's headers fit great!!!!!! But they won't come ceramic coated as you know. I took mine to a powder coater here in town and he uses something called Ceracote on headers. Said he had no come backs and have seen some of his later on and they still looked good he said. Had him do mine in bright silver and so far they still look great. About 350 miles on them and no sign of any discolorization. Ceracote does have a web site.

Jim Beckers, the speedway headers are beautiful and they are actually Patriot headers. There is 1 problem. As seeebart said they do not fit. Tey hit the trans crossmember and you can only get 1 bolt in. I had 2 sets sent to me with the same problem so I went with Red's which fit fine.

Shadowrider, with either the Patriot which is what Speedway sells or the Red's headers there is no steering box clearance issues. But there is cross member issues with the Patriot/Speedway headers.

Thanks for the great information Skidoorulz. I have read of some folks having fitment issues. Some people seemed to have massaged them in with a little tweaking, but I guess I will stick with my poor man's crossover eliminated/dual exhaust for now.

Here are the headers I have in my truck. Great price and look good. I had to notch a little bit of passenger side frame for them to fit but driver side was no issue. Probably because the perches used to put a 302 in '66 F100 move the motor over to pass side a little bit. I haven't fired the motor up yet but will in next week.
