i am still fighting the dash bezel. i think i have to do some more trimming to get it to fit properly.
and i am going to have to put some larger tabs on the sides of the radio to keep it from going too far into the dash opening.
the instructions for trimming the bezel suck to say the least.
why cant they at least give a picture saying "cut here" instead of saying cut to fit trim filler.
and there was no mention at all of having to remove the bar between the radio and heat controls.

" Thanks for the tip I'll have to try that. So if you just wire the parking brake wire to ground you can then put a switch in as a ground break. I guess from what I am reading is that the parking brake wire to ground makes the head unit think the parking brake is on. So all you are doing is breaking the ground twice to get the dvd to work with the switch."
I think it works as you decribed it. Not 100% sure because I did not do the install. If you go to Utube and search on stereo parking brake by-pass or stereo parking brake bypass toggle switch you will find several How to videos. They cover several different brands and use different methods to defeat the parking brake stereo function. They even give wire colors for the different stereo brands.

Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, etc... have good reputations (and prices reflect this). Avoid names with no or little recognition - or review stars next to the product online. I'm partial to Pioneer because of value (quality for the price), but there are some very good products out there not cloned in China.
Rich is correct about the no-names.

I just was skimming through this thread so I apologize if someone already mentioned this but when I installed my appradio I used a parking brake bypass similar to this. I didn't feel like messing around with switches or anything. I just wanted it to work when I turned it on. It worked great and you just crimp it on before sliding the head unit in.

i took the bezel completely out of the truck, and cut it up on the workbench.
all trimming is done inside where you can not see it.
you need to cut the stop tabs out so the radio will fit in the hole, the cross bar between the radio and heat controls needs to be cut down so the top is even with the bottom, and then i had to notch the lower sides of the radio hole up about 1 1/2 inches for the trim panel to fit in properly.

ok you radio geeks. I got my hands on an almost-new single DIN stereo and want to take out the OEM unit.
Will this dash install kit suffice? Any better options available?
