LMC front windshield seal issues 52 Ford??

I recently bought for my 52 Ford F1 a front windshield seal from LMC that was made in thailand. When I opened the box the package said 52 F1 front windshield seal, but when I pulled the seal out of the bag, it looks like they sent enough rubber seal for the front windshield of a school bus. The order and packaging suggest this is the 52 Ford F1 seal, but I can't see how this huge seal is correct for the front windshield. Has anybody else encountered this problem?

I'm befuzzled, and a little angry because I feel like a wasted money on something that's not correct.

Thank you for any help,

Jon Preston

Not on a seal for our vintage trucks. My brother tried to have a rear window installed on a '70 Ranger with an LMC seal last month. The pros he hired (for both the windshield and rear window) struggled for over an hour before finally conceding defeat - blaming a 'too large' seal. Oddly, they did suggest that he use LMC for the replacement since their parts 'fit better' than others.

Mis-marking can happen. Not sure it was the case in either circumstance - seems quite possible. Would be at least worth a call to LMC before any reordering.

I've never gone wrong by purchasing any soft item from DC or our paid sponsor that frequents this forum.

I bought mine from LMC just a few months ago. And it does indeed look pretty big and bulky all wadded up in the box. Have you tried to wrap it around the glass to see how much slack is in it? It might fool you.

Put the gasket on the glass to check the fit. It should be a snug fit with no looseness. If it fits leave it on the glass for several days so it will conform to the shape of the glass. Support the windshield so that the gasket isn't in contact with anything but the glass. This will help a lot in the installation. A new gasket is a pain in the rear sometimes. I am speaking from experience as I owned and operated a auto glass shop and have installed many of these things. Many of the foreign windshield gaskets are junk.

I've used LMC window and back glass rubber on two different trucks. I had no problem with it at all. Sometimes the windshield will leak even with a new rubber. You may have to run a bead of windshield seal around the perimeter after it has been installed...

Thanks guys, I was finally able to get my windshield installed, I ended up using a seal from John's F_Fun Hundreds, American made. The LMC seal was way too big, I had so much extra that there was no way it would work unless I cut the excess out.

Thanks for the advice!
