Fuel Bowl Heater Delete/Keep WIF Sensor

Not sure how to title this but I think you get the idea. I have searched the forums and I can't find the thread that described how to remove the fuel bowl heater but keep it hooked up in a way so that the water in fuel sensor still works. I know I could just unplug it but I would like to keep the WIF function. I could just pull out the heating element and start cutting wires but I remember a thread some time ago that gave directions on doing this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Why would you want to remove this in the first place?

Don't need a fuel bowl heater and one less weak link of shutting the truck down with a blown fuse. I know I could wait until if/when it happens and then unplug it, replace fuse and keep going but with my luck it will happen at the most inconvenient time so I would rather mess with it on my schedule

The fuel bowl heater element unplugs inside the fuel bowl with terminals, no cutting involved, just remove the element and unplug the terminals, this leaves the WIF sensor still in place to detect water.

Thanks for the info. I knew I could remove the element from the inside but I was not sure if the system would still cause an issue by sending signals for a heater that was not in place. I think the main cause of the problem is when the element breaks on the inside and shorts out which trips the fuse. I need to change the filter soon so now would be a good time to get this taken care of while I have it drained.

If your doing this remove the stem core from fuel bowl while in there. Before anyone one says it I know your to smart to run without a fuel filter but it is another weak link.

Removing the stem will allow unfiltered fuel into the heads if the filter is removed without first draining the filter housing. Just sayin'

Or just delete the damn bowl all together and just not deal with it anymore.
