Hey so i just purchased a 1996 ford enconoline e250 and the heat nor the ac works. I went to cut the heater on and smoke came out of the vents so i disconnected the unit from the rear because the **** is broken. Anyone have any idea whats could be worng .
Okay so an updated issue now the blower doesnt work . But when it was smoking it was a antifreeze kind of smell or electrical burning smell. I am going to go get a new blower today . It was like a foggy kind of smoke.
Smoke coming out of the heater vents. Almost sounds like a bad heater core. What does the smoke sound like? Check your coolant level, is it low?
The coolant level hasnt changed much but i did have coolant coming from under the hood not sure where from , a hose or was it the radiator. But it was only for a little while because it stopped when i started to drive but heat was off . Its kind of puzzling. I took it to a local shop and they said they didn't see any leaks but did see it was some on signs of antifreeze on the bottom of the van. I am going to put in the new blower today and see what happens because the old one decided to go.
Sounds like you could have burnt up your blower motor and caused the smoke. If you have a failed heater core the smoke will be antifreeze, but if your level is still normal it's probably not that. Let us know what happens after you change the blower motor.
