1999 f350 7.3. Accelerator pedal is not responding intermittently. Also when basic handheld code reader is already hooked up when you select "vehicle info" or speficific tests the engine shuts right done.. is this likely pcm? Thanks ahead of time.
Sounds like an IVS(Idle Validation Switch) issue with the pedal assembly possibly. Do your gauges act up when the throttle doesn't respond?
Also, most of the time it is best to have the KOEO when pulling codes to prevent shutdown. And most "generic" code readers won't pull codes on these motors, they will pull generic and body errors though.
Left truck earlier and didn't pay attention. Those switches/sensors were my first thought until the diagnostic thing, that seems accutely like a pcm problem, and doesn't the accelerator function go thru that pcm also? Thanks for the quick reply.

Attempting to retrieve "VIN info" with AE while the engine is running will shut down my 99 also. I've never tried it on my 2000 models though..... It's possible it is a '99 thing....
I also suspect the Idle Validation Switch. Test it's function and see if it's intermittent.
