Carb Spacer

The vacuum connection for the PCV system on my Y sits right in front of an idle adjustment screw on the carb--there's no way to get to it. I'm considering a spacer under the carb (2V--unknown brand), but unsure about the type and material to use.

Looks like aluminum or phenolic is available, with either an open or 2-hole design. I think about 1" would be enough space to clear the fitting.

I've heard that spacers can change the performance characteristics a bit, but didn't notice any difference when I put one on a 390 a while back--though my first attempt with an open style spacer caused a nasty whistle under some conditions.

Anyone else been down this road, can offer some advice?

I also haven't noticed any change when swapping spacers. It could be something you will see on a dyno but it was never anything I could feel. In theory, you want the 2 hole for the dual plane manifold.

I swapped spacers and never could tell any difference in performance either. Just be careful if you buy a cheap one like some chain auto parts stores sell, I've found ones that are anything but flat when checked with a straight edge. I prefer phenolic, I just feel they transfer less heat..

Thanks, both. Looks like Summit has a bunch to choose from.
