Excursion V10: Flowmaster 50 or 70 better?
Hi all, I have a 2004 Ex V10 with the Banks PowerPack (incl. exhaust manifolds, y-pipe, cold air intake, automind programmer) and a Flowmaster Super 44 muffler, single-in-dual-out. Stock cat remained in place.
The problem is a cabin drone that sets in at around 65 mph. It gets stronger until about 75 mph. Then, it gets less and almost disappears at higher speeds. When I take the foot off the gas pedal between 65-75 mph, the drone basically disappears.
I believe the reason for the cabin drone is the Flowmaster (FM) Super 44 muffler, although I love the exterior sound and performance. But the cabin drone really sucks. That's why I want to replace it with another muffler to get rid of the drone.
Which one of the FM 50 or 70 series would be more suitable to eliminate the cabin drone? Would there be a loss of performance vis-à-vis the Super 44?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Getting back to the OP's actual question, I agree w/ 1Ex Camper.
I run a FM70, the rest of the system stock. No drone at all, even while towing heavy. Very happy with idle sound and low (no) noise level when running.
Definitly a slight performance gain over stock muffler.
