Top 10 reasons to buy F-350 vs. F-250
10. Monte's build thread made me slobber.
9. Too many F-250's already
8. Superduty is Superduty. What's in a number?
7. Need dually and F-450 were sold out.
6. Dealer didn't have F-250 in King Ranch trim
5. All the 250's had 3.31 differential
4. Crystal talked me into that one. I really wanted a Mustang.
3. Sales guy is my brother-in-law, and my wife asked me to
2. .5 inch of ground clearance is important, OK?
...and the number one reason people buy F-350 instead of F-250 is...
1. 350 > 250
Feel free to add your own. (but pls make me smile) Hi, Crystal.

I need and own a 3/4 ton diesel because it keeps me in a GVWR that is under 10,001 pounds. I need this for my business because I don't have and don't want a CDL which is required for hauling trailers that when combined with my truck's GVWR cause the GCWR to go over 26K.
What all of that means is if I was using a 1 ton, having a 11K + GVWR, I wouldn't be able to haul as many of the large 5th wheel trailers because the GCWR would be into the CDL range. And the big 5th wheels pay me more and don't cost me much more fuel so that means I MAKE MORE MONEY because I have a 3/4 ton truck instead of a 1 ton!

I've always favored the F350 over the F250...and it goes back to the '90's, when the F350 got the D60, while the F250's got that hunk-of-junk TTB. Some 3/4 tons also received ******* semi-floater rear axles. The 350's also got overload springs.
I have only owned one 3/4 ton truck. The rest were 1-tons. The only difference in my current 3/4-ton and the 1-ton equivalent is one rear overload spring though...

See Ltngdrvr's response above. My F250 weighs more then my '06 F350, will haul more, has 11,200 suspension but is a '10,000 pound' truck and keeping a few bucks in my pocket at registration time plus in NY, don't have an emissions test with the smaller numbered truck. Also, with our 5er, I don't have to pull the 4" blocks out of the rear and install the 2". When it's all done, it's for all intents, the same truck with a different number for my use.

You won't hear too many people who own F350's saying "Cr@p, I wish I bought an F250!"...
Of course these days, with the standard suspension packages in the F250/350 being separated by a different rear end spring spacer and a different badge on the side, there is precious little difference.. Unless you want/need a dually...

Like another member said, it is easier to say 1 Ton and 3/4 Ton.
*EDIT:
Ford Engineers,
2. John, we know you’re very interested in this based on some of your previous posts. We have different horsepower and torque ratings for the F-250 and F-350 6.2-liter V8 due to different test procedures used for the different gross vehicle weight ratings of each truck. Engine output for both the F-250 and F-350 is the same, it’s just that the rating is different because of the GVWR. Let us know if you have more questions about this.
