Want to run 4.6 from crown vic. What do I need from donor car as far as electric?

I have a donor car and will be using front and rear suspension. i have engine and trans too that I want to use. I have heard the trans wiring is part of the body harness. I am looking to find out how much wiring I am going to
need from the car. Do I need any of the dash harness? How much of the body wiring will I need?

I am not going to use any of the gauges or anything so just looking to get enough to use trans and engine.

Thanks.

I would suggest you go here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...0-project.html and do some reading, he is doing almost the same as you are talking about..

What year is your donor car and what is the recipient? I use these cars for donors myself and find that the '98-'01 P-71 police interceptors are the easiest to work with. There is no PATS on these vehicles, and a lot of them don't have ABS.

In some cases it is easiest to disconnect the entire harness and all of the modules then remove what you don't need or want later on. One tip I have is to remove everything and either plug it in or label EACH connector that you unplug with masking tape and a marker or something to that extent. You can pull each section of harness out and "de-pin" the connectors at the modules assuming they don't need that sensor for input/output.

It depends on how much you want to carry over, do you want the BCM to control the dome lights (not sure if that's how the car is wired or if its a simple circuit) but you get my drift.

For most computer controlled cars you will need the Instrument cluster (some PCMs require the odometer to run) Ignition with the proper keys, the harness obviously, shifter and trans harness. If there is any PATS (passive anti-theft) you will need the BCM or anti-theft module to avoid starter immobilization.

Contact Chuck if you only want the harness to run your engine/transmission. He'll custom build one for exactly what you want.
