Helpa bruthu out with spark plugs
My brother has an 04 F150 and told me all about the nightmare that was spark plug replacement (and coils). He bought everything from autozone and spent $12 per plug and $50 per coil. Now, a buddy of mine is running into the same issue. Same 2004 with 110,000 miles and it started missing on him the other day and our hunt starts Saturday. So I get to reading up on the spark plug change procedure and apparently it's a real PITA. Couple Q's.
1. When I get on Rockauto.com some plugs look like normal plugs and are $2 each and others look like they go on a Star Wars hover vehicle and are $7 each. Do we really have the option to use the regular ole $2 plugs?
2. Rockauto.com also has coils for $10 up to $45 each. Is there a $35 difference in coil quality?
3. What is this tool I keep reading about? Can't seem to find a description or pic.

1. Use OEM parts. yes it is a PITA. If you use cheap, aftermarket parts, you will probably have to experience the "PITA" again soon. I used Motorcraft plugs on my '04 at 110,000 miles. Had no problems. Had a bad coil at 255,000 so I went ahead and changed COP's and plugs then.
2. Yes.
3. Lisle part number 65600. "Broken Spark Plug Remover for the Ford 3 Valve". Follow the instructions to the letter.
Best of luck.
