I have a 90 f150 lariat. I have the same fixture in mine and it had the bulb. So I know what it looks like.
you are not missing anything. The bulb looks like a festoon bulb only coming out of each end is a rounded wire loop that looks like the very tip of a paper clip.
this round part goes over the tang you see right there in your picture. I would like a LED. Bulb for mine but this is not proving easy.
