2002 Explorer ext third row seat keypad code
I have a 2002 explorer xlt with 3rd row seat.
When I bought this suv the keypad code was not listed anywhere. And the card that had the code is not in the suv.
I have been told to look behind the middle row seat belt trim on that box , not there, not on anything in the small compartment that holds my jack, on the driver door panel white sticker &around the fuel button on the passenger floor board .
Does anyone have a idea where I can get this without paying the dealer $70 to scan my computer to get it. I have keyed in every 5 number code I could find on this suv.

Did you check the passenger side, behind the panel beside the seat belt? You just mentioned the "middle row seat belt trim" but didn't mention which side you checked. You need to pull away the weather stripping for the door opening, then pop the trim panel away from the cabin and look between the panel and the inner structure of the cabin.

It should be in the cargo area open the side panel where your jack is look toward the front of the opening and raise it a little with your jack handle you will see a square box with a large plug running to it shine a flashlight on it you will see the 5 digit code printed on the top of it.
---the "box" on my 2002 is about 12- 18 inches FORWARD of the jack. I actually had to use a mirror and flashlight to see all the way to the front of the box.

I checked the factory service manual for 2002. It's showing for both the early build and the late build the security module for the remote locks is in the same location. The location indicated in the image is also where I found the module on my 2004 Mountaineer.
In my prior 2000 Mountaineer (different body style from 2002) the module was located above the rear wheel on the driver's side in the area described by Steve.

I took it apart myself twice ! I think they might have changed the box. I have only owned it a year now. there is no large 5 number code on the box just bunch of smaller long numbers/letters. And steve , mine is the third row seat addition. It does not have the jack in the side. its under a small compartment behind the seat which has nothing with a code either. Guess I'm stuck without one or paying a dealer. thanks

If you know someone with a professional grade scan tool or have a independent shop that you have a good relationship with, the professional scan tools often have the capability to access the security module and read out the 5-digit code. You might try that route as well.

So the security module is located there? Are you comfortable pulling the box and checking all sides for the code?
