drums locking up

drums locking up
since a few days ago, my drivers side drum has been locking up. The weird thing is though, i put it up on a lift, and i can spin the tire fine as if it were rolling backwards, but if i spin it fowards, it immediately locks up. i replaced the drum, shoes, and hardware, and now it still does it!!!! Any suggestions are welcome.

Can you drive the truck?
Is it a banging lockup or a smooth tight lockup? Could be the axle if it is banging. I had a similar problem once.
Are the shoes on the right way?
Wheel Cylinder functioning properly?
Ebrake corroded and sticking to the shoes?

drums locking up
Your emergency brake cable is probably rusted and stuck. Get somebody to operate it in the cab, while you watch the cables where they go inside the sheath. If one of them doesn't move very much, you need to replace it.
