86 Brake job

Hi folks!!
I'm Christopher and new to the site.
So here I am, moved to a new city and what happens? The brake lines on my 86 Bronco II blow. Still searching for a job, but now I have to figure out a way to repair/replace things so that...ya know.. I won't careen into a ravine or brick wall...
What happens is this: I push down on the brake pedal and see a spray of fluid just in front the driver side rear wheel well. The spray comes from what looks to be a slice in a line that looks less than brake line and more like an electrical line completely wrapped by black tape. This whole shebang looks and flops just like flexible line, and it feels like there are several wires taped inside, not at all what I would expect to be a brake line, but that is where the spray comes from.
Would I need to buy something similar to this, or can I replace this with steel line?

Unless somebody has really dockered it up, brake lines are steel. And I'm sure if you get to checking it out, that's what you will find, you can replace it with a line from napa or other parts store. Cut it off ahead of the leak, and get a splice coupling, attach it there, and thread the other end into the block on the rearend. Then bleed the system till you have good petal.

There's a flexible rubber line that goes from the frame down to the rear axle. Is that what you're talking about? That line has to be flexible; you cannot replace it with a steel line. All the other lines should already be rigid steel lines. If they're not, someone hacked something up and you need to fix it properly by replacing it with steel line.
