i have f150 5.0 4x4 auto trans with tow package
my question is I need go get 1976 grand marquis
that about 300 miles away can i pull that car with my truck
using i think tow bar is about 6000 pounds
not sure of car weight it big ?

 

I think the tow capacity chart is in the owner's manual. Your truck's rated towing capacity depends on engine, gears, and cab configuration.

I wouldn't use a Tow Bar anyway, they're illegal in some states. Use a tow dolly instead and you should be fine with the weight.

 

Actually it's primarilly based on engine, trans, and axle ratio, but truck config comes into play as it impacts curb weight which subtracts from the gross combined weight rating(GCWR).

 

I did find a truck dolly it was wider then car dolly
we did get back yesterday only trouble could not get car all way on top dolly so
I had drive doll down hill so ramp touch ground
guy on tractor with bucket on it push the car on ramp. so got home
had another guy tow rope on back end car pulled it off. thanks
