Need Some restore Info for '62 F100
What's up guys I just picked up this 1962 F-100 about two weeks ago. It has the original 292 Y-block, 3 on the tree all the interior is there and original even the original am radio still works lol leave it to ford this truck 52 years young and still runs and still has the original working radio lol but um yeah the truck is a runner and a daily driver from the original owners grandson up in a small country town called Sonora. It was passed down three generations then ending up with me so that would make me the fourth very proud, excited and happy owner of her. Anyways um im in need of some restore info as I tend to restore it to original state as it was from the factory or atleast the era it was in. I need to know the original paint colors of the Y-block in my model, rims hubcap choices on my model, tire style, rear bumper as mine was stolen, side mirror choices, and well that's about it since all other parts are still there just need cleaning and repainting. Im sure I will think of other stuff but for now that is what I am in need of. Hopefully someone can help me with this information or atleast maybe point me to the right direction to achieve this information. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you. Here are some pic shots of my truck and yes that '02 Mustang GT is mine my daily driver. The engine pic shows a chrome edelbrock air cleaner but I now have the original oil bath one.

I was able to make out the codes on lines 2 & 3:
122" Wheelbase.
A = Raven Black.
F100 2WD, 5,000 lbs. GVWR
A = Ford 3 speed manual transmission.
A1 = Dana 44 Rear Axle / 3.73-1 / Limited Slip / 3,300 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity. This axle was an extra cost option, the 9" without Limited Slip was standard equipment.
5,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
135 net HP @ 3,800 RPM (292 2V).
72 = San Jose (NorCal) Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
The most popular outside mirror for 1955/66 trucks is the chrome mirror (reproduced) with the 5" round mirror head that fit into the door slots. I have no picture of this mirror.
Some 1961/66's came with 1957/60 Styleside beds (your truck has it). Called the "wrong" bed, because the cab lines don't match the bed lines.
All rear bumpers were optional. Your Styleside used the contoured rear bumper, so called because it's dished inwards at the center for the license plate.
It could have been painted white or chrome. Do you recall which it was?
1961/64 F100's and some 1965/66 F100's: "Innie" hubcaps are TYPE 1, painted argent with red Ford letters, or optional stainless steel with painted black Ford letters (reproduced).
The wheels on your truck are not original, they would have been painted steel 15" "innies" originally. 16" and 17" "innie" wheels were optional.
Innie: So called because the hubcap snaps over tabs located on the inside of the wheels center section.

A 1962 Y block in an F-100 would have been black with vermillion valve covers (I believe this vermillion shade may be referred to as "Ford Red"). There are multiple threads on this forum about engine colors, including one REALLY long one! (Interesting reading if you're into originality!)
As to the black painting, I'm referring to block, heads, oil pan, valley cover, and probably intake manifold (I say "probably" with respect to the intake manifold only because there is one black-and-white period photo of a pre-production '62 or '61 truck -- in one of these threads -- that shows a contrast between the intake manifold and the black engine accessories). Below is the Y block from my '61 F-350, which would have looked the same, but for the possibility that the F-350 may have had argent valve covers -- or was argent reserved for the heavy-duty (4 bbl) 292?
There's also a (long) "stickied" thread on the mirrors available during the period. (Also interesting reading if you're into originality!)
Welcome and good luck with your new acquisition: looks like a good truck!

Read post 22 in the "Side Mirror" sticky on page 1 of this forum.
ALL 1960/65 FoMoCo engines were painted black. The valve covers were painted specific colors, as this was the method FoMoCo used to identify specific engine sizes.
The original air cleaner would have been an oil bath, the one on your truck is an auto parts store replacement.

It's impossible to make out the 11 digit VIN on line 1, as it's too blurry.

Great truck and I love how your going through her.
Keeping it as original as ya can without getting crazy.
I for one or two can't read your 11 digit vin number.
Would you type it out and post it here for us. Also Bill
and others can tell you of a place that for a fee can
send you the original build sheet as to how it was delivered.
I can't remember the name right now for the life of me.

1957/60 F100/250 / 1957/66 F350 / 1961/63 F100/250 2WD Uni / 1961/65 F100/250 4WD / 1962/63 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F250 4WD
Carpenter has this repro bumper in his 1957/66 repro parts catalog, but has the wrong Ford part number listed (B7C-17906-A) for it. Plus, his applications are in-complete.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Repro rear bumper does not come with brackets. Looking these brackets up in the 1957/63 & 1964/72 Ford truck parts catalogs is a confusing mish-mash!
B7C-17787-C Right & B7C-17788-C Left .. Rear Bumper Brackets / Obsolete
1957/60 F100/250 Styleside & Flareside / 1961/65 F100/250 4WD Styleside / 1961/66 F100/250 Flareside / 1962/63 F100/250 2WD Styleside (not Uni's!).
1966 F250 4WD Styleside & Flareside / 1967/72 F100/250 Flareside (131" wheelbase).
Originally these brackets were separate pieces, so 2 of each were required. Ford later riveted them together, so only 1 of each was required. Confusing ain't it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F10 = F100 2WD
C = 292 2V
R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.
310418 = 1962, assembled July 1962.
