Thanks!

They are bait tanks. The far back box that is a different color is actually an equipment box.

Seeker can you plz share you trick to get the lower corner headlight fasteners to pop out?
I had trouble and gave up removing my lens.

So you catch bait fish then sell them?
That is a sweet truck. Love the midnite blue.

Yes catch and sell as well as buy and sell, we do it all.

For the lower fastener on the stock headlights I just turned the adjuster all the way out. Once the headlight is then removed the adjuster is much easier to get to and the prongs can be then squeezed with pliers and pushed on with a screw driver to pop them out.

When I did the conversion in my X I left the headlights in the header panel and pulled the whole deal out as one unit. I installed an 05-07 header panel in my X.

I highly disagree with this statement. I too, thought it was probably not that big of a deal. Flushed my engine for 4 hours with water non-stop, switch to ELC, and put on a coolant filter system. It was recommended to change the filters at 1,000 miles or 1 month (whichever came first) for first 3 filter changes. I REALLY laughed at that. But at 1 month (less than 1k) I figured, "Why not?" and changed it. Cut open the filter with a band saw, and it WAS FULL of sand, debris, etc. I was shocked. After hours of flushing the system with non-stop flowing water and no T-stat.

Really worthwhile mod, and if you build it yourself, about $50 in parts.

Sand? It sounds like the engine is building silica. Are you using distilled water? If so, I wonder what's in the coolant that reacts with the engine to make silica. It could also be metal particles - I'm spitballing here.

I'm guessing that as time went on the sand disappeared quite a bit. Most of what you got will be from the casting. It's amazing how hard that stuff is to get out. By the way Rich thanks for the link on the dongle. It works excellent.

I'm lost (not a difficult feat). Was that for the OBDLink MX?

Personally the only downfall I feel to having and leaving casting sand in a motor is the wear it puts on the impeller and the water pump housing itself. Beyond that if it was in there since new and hasn't caused a problem yet I don't feel it ever will.

It was mentioned that casting sand is in pretty much every 6.0 too, the one I rebuilt had no sign of sand anywhere. Even after turning the motor over many times on the engine stand and flushing out all the water ports I didn't see a single piece of sand anywhere.

Also there are something like over a million of these 7.3's running around most of which don't have coolant filters yet many go way over 500K miles without any "sand" troubles.

One reason I also like to avoid extra filters is more locations for possible leaks or failures. I like simple, simple works, simple doesn't break down.

I also feel that if there was any sand in the system there would be some in the bottom of the reservoir tank.

If you service your coolant properly from new,you may not benefit much,International Harvester installed them on the T444E,I have noticed most diesels in larger equipment has coolant filters
