HVAC vents stuck

So my vents stopped actuating to different positions in my 2011 6.7 F350. I read that it could be a vacuum pump or solenoid issue. In any event, I turned 4x4 on and went down the street and made a u-turn - 4x4 seems to be on as the truck wants to hop the outside wheel when turning. I want to check the vacuum pump anyway but for the life of me cannot find it anywhere. Moreover, google turns up nothing which is making me start to believe the new trucks have a completely different system. Does anyone have any experience on this and can offer any troubleshooting advice? Thanks, JC

Are you saying it won't go from vent to defrost to floor etc? If so it's probably the actuator motor that controls the doors on the plenum.

The vents don't SUCK, they BLOW!!!

No vacuum pumps, electrical actuators on the blend doors.

Yep, this is what the dealer told me as well. Bought the motor. $160. Something tells me it's going to be a major pita to replace.

Same thing happened on my 11 after $16000 that Ford spent on warranty replacing everything from actuators to this and that and taking whole dash out of truck twice took 3 weeks they found that they had to replace the 2nd bank of heater cores

Oy. I'm out of bumper to bumper warranty so this is a job I have to do myself. Dreading it. Any idea where in the dash this little plenum motor sits?

If u r talking about blend door actuators then I think only 1 is accessible behind glove box or cup holder insert on jump seat model however the other 1 apparently has to be accessed by removing the whole dash and heater box which is pretty much the whole in front of the seats to the fire wall

I am talking about the motor that actuates the hvac mode door/flap. Meaning, that one that switches the airflow from the defrost to main vents to floor vents. I don't think it's the same motor as the blend doors, which are more to regulate temperature. My temp works fine, I just can't get air to come out anywhere other than the main vents (no floor or defrost).

Well, update. I pulled it apart myself and the mode door actuator was not moving the doors. The motor was trying to move the actuator but no dice. I could reach in and feel the vent door and manually couldn't open it all of the way, even with all of the actuator arms unhooked. So I am pretty sure something has fallen down from the upper dash and has wedged itself behind the door preventing it from working. Anyway, I tried forcing it using the actuator (nothing to lose because at that point it all had to come out anyway) to see if I could cause the obstruction to dislodge itself but instead the cable actuator broke from inside the depths of the plenum. So now I have to pull the entire plenum out all the way back to the firewall. Ugh. What a huge job that is going to be!

Anyway, for those of you who read this, run out now and check your dash for any objects that could fall down inside the ductwork and jam up your mode doors because it's a time consuming and costly fix!
