I have a 351C with a FMX ( thought it was a C4 until I pulled it) in my panel. The PO cut the cross member and then bolted it back in. The frame has spread as have the cab mounts in the last 25 years, with NO driving.

Was together 25 years ago!
So there is room to put the cross member back in or is it even necessary to remove it in the first place?

I have cut mine as in the previous picture and will bolt it back together using c-channel welded on the inside of the removeable piece.

I removed the powertrain with it in but I had all the front sheet metal off. I think he did it so he only had to remove the hood.

It's too important to have it hacked up. I'm getting a good cross member and replacing it. Only issue is I'll have to bolt it in.
